Teeth whitening

Teeth can experience wear and tear over time just like other parts of your body. Everything from tobacco to coffee and tea to colas and red wine contribute to stains and discoloration. Other factors like ingesting too much fluoride, taking the antibiotic tetracycline as a child, and even just the natural aging process can result in teeth that don’t look their best and brightest.

Professional teeth whitening can restore your sparkling smile with either one appointment in the office or with a take-home tray worn daily to gradually reduce staining. Both versions treat stubborn surface stains while also penetrating deep into the teeth to address issues with the dentin.

Smiles for Life Foundation

Each year from March through June, hundreds of dental practices all over the United States and Canada donate the money earned from their time spent performing teeth whitening procedures to children who are seriously ill, disabled, or underprivileged, both locally and around the world.

Ultradent, the maker of Opalescence® teeth whitening gels, donates all of the whitening supplies for the procedure to the participating dentists.

Patients write a check directly to Smiles for Life instead of the dental practice. Fifty percent of the money goes to the local charity partner chosen by the specific dentist, while the other half is distributed by the Smiles for Life Foundation to worthy charities around the globe. The Foundation has raised over $40 million in this way since 1998.

Participating dentists like Dr. Kim are members of the Crown Council, an alliance of practices focused on excellence, continuing education, keeping the focus on the patient rather than the teeth, and giving back through charitable work. Smiles for Life exists as the children's charity branch of the Crown Council.
